बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् | मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकरः ||१०-३५||
bṛhatsāma tathā sāmnāṃ gāyatrī chandasāmaham . māsānāṃ mārgaśīrṣo.ahamṛtūnāṃ kusumākaraḥ ||10-35||

Among the hymns also I am the Brihatsaman; among metres Gayatri am I; among the montsh I am the Margasirsha; among the seasons (I am) the flowery season.
हिंदी अर्थ
सामों (गेय मन्त्रों) में मैं बृहत्साम और छन्दों में गायत्री छन्द हूँ; मैं मासों में मार्गशीर्ष (दिसम्बरजनवरी के भाग) और ऋतुओं में वसन्त हूँ।।
रूसी अर्थ
Среди гимнов также Я — Брихатсаман; среди метров Гаятри — я; среди монтшей я Маргасирша; среди времен года (я) цветочный сезон.
स्पेनिश अर्थ
Entre los himnos también soy el Brihatsaman; entre metros Gayatri soy yo; entre los meses soy el Margasirsha; entre las estaciones (yo soy) la estación florida.

Brihatsaman is the chief of the hymns of the SamaVeda. Brihat means big.Margasirsha From the middle of December to the middle of January. This has a temperate climate. In olden days it was usual to start with this month in counting the months of the year. The first place was given to this month.Kusumakara The beautiful flowery season? the spring.
